Scholarship to Southwestern College Student

Bo Chen-Samuel was born and raised in China. She received her Associate’s degree from Harbin University of Commerce where she majored in Business English.  Bo worked as an editor for Movie World (Dian Ying Shi Jie) magazine based in Beijing, China from 2006 to 2009.  In 2009, she switched companies to Modern Media Group and spent three years working as a creative editor first and later promoted as a project manager. While working for Modern Media Group, Bo managed and implemented promotion/advertisement projects for her company’s Modern Weekly magazine. She brainstormed and developed creative campaign ideas and strategies several prominent clients including BMW, Audi, and Volkswagen among many others.

In 2012, she made a dramatic decision to leave her home country to begin a new life in the United States. Bo’s plans for her future are to continue her previous career as a media professional. She is currently a student at Southwestern College and a staff writer for its campus newspaper, The Sun. It is her hope to transfer to San Diego State University as a Journalism Major.
