The San Diego Association of Black Journalists is proud to announce we have been selected National Association of Black Journalists Co-Chapter of the year along side The Rochester, NY Chapter. We were up against some stiff competition including Los Angeles, Atlanta and the Twin Cities. Our chapter had an extraordinary year highlighted by our advocacy for diversity in newsrooms as well as our professional development panel discussions. Our annual tent-pole events like Pro For a Day and the scholarship reception continue to be huge successes. Obtaining a speaker the caliber of two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Wesley Lowery just made our spotlight a little brighter. To be chosen out of 49 professional chapters around the United States is an honor we have not experienced since 2003 when SDABJ was a mere 3 years old. We look forward to continuing to be “The Little Chapter That Could.”
